For those who know and love Saba Rock Resort information about what is happening with the rebuild and when the resort be operational has been extremely hard to come by. Here are six things we know or have heard to date:
1 – No Website: The www.sabarock.com website is down.
2 – No Communication: They last posted on Facebook on September 23, 2017.
3 – Resort Has Been Purchased: From unofficial sources we learned in early 2018 that Saba Rock Resort had been purchased. Reports indicated that the new owner was committed to a total restoration of the property to its pre-Irma condition.
4 – A Watersports Center: In early 2019 BVI Traveller heard from a local source that Saba Rock Resort hoped to reopen as a water sports center by Christmas 2019. We were told that the resort will still serve food and drinks, but will probably not have as big of a dining room as before.
5 – Projected Opening Date: In a recent article in the BVI News, Dr Hubert O’Neal, the District Representative for the Ninth Electoral District on Virgin Gorda, said, “Saba Rock is rebuilding and may not begin operations before next year [2020].”
6 – The Good News: Signs of significant progress in the rebuilding at Saba Rock were confirmed recently by the photos above taken in late March 2019.
